Giant Grill Gauge

The ultimate in smoker surveillance. Huge digital display, built-in WiFi, 1000ºF temperature limit, and oh–did we mention it's ten times more accurate than your old gauge?

The Giant Grill Gauge connects your grill or smoker to the cloud so you can watch your meat from anywhere.

(More savory details on the featured page, dig in!)

Choose the thermal protection of 10mm of industrial aerogel with the Heat Shield (suitable for top-mounting on kettle-style grills or other hotties).

Or go with the sleeker 2mm Heat Deflector (suitable for front-mounting on kamado-style smokers, gas grills, insulated grills, and basically anything that won’t set your arm on fire when you touch it).

MeatNet™ Cloud

Watch your cook from anywhere

Sync your local MeatNet™ to the cloud using the Combustion App and you can view your cooks - live - from wherever you are.

This is great for long low+slow cooks. But it’s also handy for shorter cooking sessions. By leveraging your home WiFi you can forward cook data into hard-to-reach places.

What's in the box?

  • Giant Grill Gauge display
  • Heat Shield or Heat Deflector mount
  • Sensor tube (with M4 threading)
  • 1/4-20 threaded mounting tube with washer and wingnut
  • M4 wing nut and washer
  • 2 CR2450 batteries (85 °C rated)

Will the Giant Grill Gauge have high/low temp alarms? Like for flame-outs or flare-ups, or whatever?

Yes! Custom alarms are a highly-requested feature.

That's coming to the Combustion App very soon and will work natively with the Gauge and Predictive Thermometer.

Cooks will be able to set an alarm and will be alerted through the app as well as by the Gauge itself.

Does the Giant Grill Gauge work as part of the mesh network? Specifically, will it help get the signal from my CPT out of the grill box better?

Yes! It’s part of the Bluetooth mesh network (Meatnet™) and also adds WiFi to your toolset.

The Giant Grill Gauge connects to Meatnet and communicates with other Combustion tools, but also connects directly to your Wi-Fi network. This gives you the ability to remotely check temps using the app – from far beyond Bluetooth range.

From the CPT’s point of view, it’s creating a direct line-of-sight Bluetooth connection inside the grill!

The signal coming from the CPT doesn’t have to penetrate the box, it has a backdoor. And then the Gauge passes that on to whatever else you’ve got - Boosters, Displays, Apps. And so forth.

That also means the Gauge is not dependent on WiFi - you can still use it as a repeater with traditional Meatnet, even if the internet goes down.

On top of this, the Gauge is contributing its own data (grill temp) to the pool, which creates all kinds of interesting and useful analytical possibilities. Mathematical!

Will the Giant Grill Gauge fit my grill?

The Giant Grill Gauge is compatible with most grills and smokers, including popular brands like Big Green Egg, Traeger, Weber, and more.

If in doubt, read on:

  • You'll need a clear, circular area of 4.5 inches in diameter for the display
  • You'll need a center pass-through hole for the sensor tube

Attachment Methods:

  • Standard: 1/4-20 threaded tube with wing-nut (preferred)
  • Alternative: M4-threaded sensor tube with matching wingnut

Want to test it out on your grill? Look on the help center for fit guides, templates, and even a 3D printable dummy.

How easy is it to set up the Giant Grill Gauge?

Setup is straightforward. Attach the mount to your grill where your old gauge was, then secure it with the wingnut.

The Giant Grill Gauge display snaps onto the mount magnetically. Once attached, all you have to do is turn it on.

Connect it to your Wi-Fi network easily using the Combustion app.

Why aren't the batteries rechargeable?

The Giant Grill Gauge is designed for extreme outdoor conditions.

Rechargeable lithium polymer batteries can be compromised at temperatures above 149°F (65°C), which the Gauge may exceed on very hot, sunny days.

Because of that we use high-capacity coin cell batteries that can withstand extreme temperatures while providing enough power for most customers to change batteries only once every year or two. This ensures reliability in all grilling conditions without sacrificing performance or convenience.

Hello. We’re Combustion Inc.
We build nice things that make cooking enjoyable.

You don’t need much to prepare a great meal: A sharp knife (like actually sharp), a few good pans, and a modest assortment of other tools are enough. You should definitely have a good digital thermometer. And we think it should be smart enough to take the guesswork out of cooking. We made ours that way, so that your food will be just right, every time.
